General rules for CRM Membrane chemical cleansing: to change part of insoluble material to soluble material with inorganic strong acid; organic acid can be used to remove sediment; chelating agents can reduce the salts depositing on surface and absorbent inorganic pollution through complex with inorganic ions and generating material with more solubility; Surfactant is mainly for removing organic pollutants; Strong oxidant and alkali is to remove biomass pollutions such as grease, protein and algae; for cell debris pollution system, use enzyme cleaner. For membrane which is seriously polluted, usually it could be cleaned alternately with strong acid and alkali, and also with adding oxidants and surfactants such as sodium hypochlorite. After chemical cleaning it may be washed to neutral with water. It’s better to modulate cleaning solution with industrial soften water if production permites to avoid new pollutions such as impurity which may exists in tap water. DI or soft water is recommended for preparation of CIP solution
